The Traxx FM first started on 1 January 1950 with the name Blue Network. At that time, It was the only station in the country that worked 24-hours a day, with the news at every hour. It is also known as “The Blue Network”, “Radio 4” and “Radio Malaysia Channel 4. It was broadcast from Singapore and later on, It moved to Kuala Lumpur. Until 1994 it was the only English station in-country and the monopoly was broken when TIME Highway Radio launched. In 2009 a survey was conducted by Nielsen’s Radio Audience Measurement (RAM) and Traxx FM is the fifth most popular English radio station in the country.
Traxx FM Branding:
The word “Traxx” is derived from the word ‘TRACK’ and the word XX is derived from ‘Xperience the Xcitement. In the beginning, It worked as a tourism-oriented radio station and after rebranding, it worked as “Experience the Excitement”. Nowadays it is working as an information-based and generalist station and plays music related to (K-Pop, English, and Malay music).
Awards of Traxx FM:
Traxx FM wins two major awards. The first ward was a win in 2009, in the Category Best Radio Program and win an award (UNICEF International Children’s Day of Broadcasting (ICDB) Regional Awards) and second award win in 2018 with the name Red Ribbon Media Awards.
